Phileas ("the app", "we", "us") is a travel-planning app. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. Phileas keeps the trips you create on your device — we do not operate accounts or servers that store them. To understand how the app is used and to keep it fast and stable, we use anonymous product analytics and performance monitoring, described in Analytics and performance.
When you use Phileas, the trips and details you enter are saved locally on your device. This can include:
This information lives only on your device. It is included in your device's own backups (e.g. iCloud / Google backup) if you have those enabled, but it is never transmitted to us. Uninstalling the app, or deleting individual trips inside the app, removes it.
With your permission, Phileas uses your device location only while you're using the app ("when in use"). We do not request background or "always" location access.
Your location is used to:
Your location is used on your device and is not transmitted to us. You can grant or revoke location access at any time in your device's system settings; the app works without it, with some convenience features limited.
To understand how Phileas is used and to keep it fast and reliable, the app collects limited, anonymous usage and performance data. It is tied to a random identifier generated for your app install — not to your name, email, or any account.
What analytics does not include: we do not send the contents of your trips. Your notes, full itineraries, accommodations, saved link URLs, and place coordinates are not transmitted — only the limited activity and technical data described above.
We use this data solely to operate and improve Phileas. It is handled by our analytics and performance providers under their own privacy policies. Because the data is anonymous and not tied to an account, we cannot identify it as yours; uninstalling the app stops all further collection.
Phileas relies on a few third-party services to power core features — maps, trip cover photos, looking up the places you search, and link previews. The relevant service receives only what that feature needs (for example, the map area you're viewing or a place name). Each provider handles that data under its own privacy policy, and we don't attach any identifier of you to those requests.
Because your trip data is stored only on your device, you control it directly:
The anonymous usage and performance data described in Analytics and performance is held by our providers under their own retention policies; because it is not linked to your identity, it cannot be tied back to you individually.
Phileas is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect for new app versions.
